As we get closer to our launch of our 2nd MVP, we are keen to update you with our latest features releases on the site. We're thrilled to announce a series of exciting new features and improvements that will elevate your knowledge management experience to new heights. These updates are designed to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and make the Modus platform even more intuitive and powerful.

Introducing AI Agent: Socrates

We're excited to introduce Socrates, our new AI agent that answers questions based on your notes in Modus. Named after the philosopher known for his method of questioning to stimulate critical thinking, Socrates uses a Hybrid Search approach to combine vector-based and keyword-based search methods for powerful and specific retrieval from your knowledge base. Here's how it works:

Vectorisation with OpenAI Embeddings:

• Converts query text into an embedding.

• Performs similarity and keyword searches in your database.

• Combines and ranks results for relevance.

With Socrates, you can delve deeper into your notes, uncovering insights and connections that enhance your understanding and support your research and learning.

Enhanced Formatting and Editor Metrics

We've improved the formatting of chat outputs in Modus, allowing the AI Agents to use bullet points, bolding, underlining, numbered lists, spacing, headings, block-quotes, tables, and more. These enhancements make it easier to organise and present your ideas clearly and effectively.

Additionally, our editor now provides detailed metrics, including created at, updated at, word count, and character count, giving you a comprehensive overview of your notes and documents.

Chat History and Sidebar Enhancements

Your chats are now stored, and you can rename them for better organisation. The left sidebar has been upgraded to include easy access to recent chats, notes, and summaries. This enhancement ensures that you can quickly retrieve and continue your conversations and work without interruption.

Advanced Editor Extensions

We've added LaTeX and mathematics support to the editor, allowing you to include complex equations and formulas seamlessly. Additionally, a to-do list feature has been integrated to help you manage tasks and keep track of your progress within your notes.

Latest OpenAI Model: GPT-4o

All users now have access to the latest OpenAI model, GPT-4o, providing you with the most advanced AI capabilities for your knowledge management needs. This model enhances the accuracy and relevance of AI-driven insights, making your interactions with Modus even more productive.

Roadmap and Vision for Modus

Our recent articles, Founder Vision - The Roadmap, Founder Vision - The Vision and outlines the strategic roadmap and core principles that guide our development. We're committed to addressing the challenges of fragmented learning and providing a unified platform that supports seamless knowledge management. By integrating the strengths of the Zettelkasten method and the Knowledge Lifecycle, we aim to foster a cohesive and intuitive environment for intellectual growth.

Stage 1 — Establish Core Foundations: We are focused on creating fundamental organisational functionalities to support seamless knowledge management, ensuring that our second MVP launch is viable and provides a practical solution, even if it is minimal.

Stage 2 — Enhance and Refine: We aim to improve the platform's capabilities through user feedback and refine AI functionalities for better contextual analysis and synthesis, creating a more intuitive interaction with data.

Stage 3 — Integrate and Expand: Our final stage is dedicated to broadening the platform's reach by integrating with external tools and enhancing the workspace, ensuring a connected and collaborative knowledge environment.
